Volunteer Support Service For Carers

Carers look after family, partners or friends in need of help because they are ill, frail or have a disability.  They often feel isolated and under stress whilst caring for someone else and may have lost friends or are struggling with coming to terms with a loved one’s illness or disability.

Our volunteers are trained to offer one to one emotional support and friendship to adult carers who are feeling lonely or isolated, but they are not professional counsellors.

The service aims to offer short-term support to carers, initially for 10 sessions. Meetings are usually held in the carer’s own home but the carer may choose an alternative venue if this would be more appropriate.
